Each organization has their own way of doing things.  Just because one company chooses to do something a certain way doesn’t mean that it should be followed the same way in other organizations.  Therefore, we have created several different types of mentoring programs to allow you to choose what is right for you.  They are:

One-on-One Mentoring Program – We find that this program is used about 98% of the time.  The one-on-one program matches one mentor with one mentoree.  This type of program allows the pairs to develop a personal relationship while providing individual support for the mentoree.  In this type of mentoring, you will have a Program Manager overseeing the mentoring program.  This mentoring model works well for companies that are looking to target a specific group of individuals, i.e. emerging leaders, high potential employees, to promote diversity.  In this type of program we find that companies are looking to develop employees to meet a specific organizational goal.

Self-Directed Mentoring Program – Self-directed programs are similar to one-on-one programs, but instead of a Program Manager pairing the mentor with a mentoree, it is usually set up by providing mentorees with a list of employees volunteering to be a mentor.  The mentoree will seek out a mentor that they think will work in their best interest.  This type of program works well with companies that want to offer mentoring to their employees but are not concerned with linking the program to the company’s goals.

Group Mentoring – Group Mentoring requires a mentor to work with several mentorees at one time.  Usually, the group will meet all together several times a month to discuss various topics.  In this type of program, the mentor as well as the mentoree helps one another learn and develop appropriate skills and knowledge.  This model works well for companies that have limited mentors to satisfy a high mentoree demand.
